About Our Chapter

The 25th Anniversary of Teenshop, Inc. marked the 17th year of Grace Teenshop, which was established in 1993 at the Grace Baptist Church in the Germantown section of Philadelphia, PA.

Grace Teenshop has built a record of accomplishments over the years. Our recognition from Teenshop, Inc. includes: Chapter of the Year, 2010; Best Program Book Award, 1994; National Community Service Campaign Awards in 1994, 1995, and 1996 and many essay winners for Black History Month and Women’s History Month contests.

We have also visited many college campuses in the Philadelphia area and beyond.as part of Teenshop’s annual required college tour. Our visits include: Temple University, Cheyney University, Lincoln University, Delaware State University, Coppin State University, Widener University, Chestnut Hill College, Morgan State University, Albright College, and Howard University. Our chapter also sponsored teens on the Delaware Valley College Tours as well as on the “Freedom Ride” (tour of the civil rights trail). Some of the other events in our 17 years of history are luncheon fashion shows, a weekend ski trip to Mt. Pocono in New York, and a weekend in Niagra Falls, Canada.

Mothers and Daughters of Grace Teenshop enjoyed a seven course meal and a lesson in dining etiquette at Philadelphia’s Restaurant School. This activity was Mind Your Manners, which is one of Teenshop’s annual workshop topics.
