I am currently a sophomore at Delaware State University majoring in Elementary Education and minoring in Mathematics. I have had the great opportunity of being a part of Teenshop Inc. for three years. As being an alumna of Teenshop, I have nothing but positive things to say. My experience has been extraordinary. I have learned about our society from different workshops, had the chance to meet successful people that where entrepreneurs, and I have participated in many community service projects. My mentors were always hands-on making sure that we had everything we needed and they were beyond supportive. Not only did I have great mentors, but I had the chance to create lifelong friendships. Still to this day, we talk about our experience at Teenshop. We were able to participate in a Debutante Cotillion in 2015, which for all of us will be an exciting lifelong memory. It was a bittersweet moment of ending my experience.
Teenshop Inc. was not just an outside activity, it was a place of comfort. I was surrounded by young positive females who had goals they wanted to accomplish, just like myself. It is because of Teenshop that I have this drive now to achieve my goals. I do believe that Teenshop has helped groom me into the young woman I am today. The main important thing that I took with me throughout my experience in Teenshop was the Teenshop Pledge. Yes, I do still remember the pledge and I am still able to recite it to this day. Thank you, Ms. Elleanor Jean Hendley for founding Teenshop and giving me a wonderful learning and growing experience.
